I always remember as a kid trying to avoid the Brussels Sprouts at the Christmas dinner. Even though I like them now, most of the time they still have that same bland squishy taste. So for today's post I thought I would give you a delicious yet festive variation to normal boiled sprouts, using another Christmas ingredients. Enjoy.
85g of Butter
Finely grated zest of 1 Orange
50g of chopped roasted Hazelnuts
1kg of Brussel Sprouts, trimmed and halved
340g of garden peas
1. Mix the Butter, Orange Zest and Hazelnuts in a bowl with some salt and pepper.
2. Place a medium sized saucepan of lightly salted water on a medium heat. Bring to the boil and add the sprouts.
3. Cover and cook for 4-5 minutes. Add the peas and cook for a further 2 minutes then drain.
4. Place the sprouts and peas back into the empty pan and tip in the butter mixture so that it melts over. Serve.
So there you have it, a different take on those usual boiled Brussels Sprouts. If this recipe doesn't tickle your fancy, why not try frying up some Panchetta Bacon and mixing it through some plain Brussels Sprouts. So I hope you enjoyed todays post, remember to check back tomorrow for the next one. But until next time bros, carry on cooking.
