The Method Behind the Madness
Roasting your own coffee is relatively simple. Just get your raw coffee beans (about 1/2 cup) and place them in your Pop Corn Maker, just like you would with popcorn, and turn it on. After about a minute you should already see the 'chaff' from the beans flying off. At about 3 minutes, the first crack appears. After another minute, you can begin to monitor the beans closely for the desired color and smell. The roasting times are as follows;
- 4 minutes for a light roast
- 5 minutes for a full roast
- 6.5 minutes for a dark roast
After roasting, coffee should be stored in an airtight container away from direct sunlight (but not in a fridge or freezer) however wait around 12 hours to seal a fresh roast as it needs to vent any C02. Freshly roasted coffee attains its peak taste after 4 to 24 hours and if stored correctly can be kept fresh for around 5 days.

Sadly I cant yet offer any tips or help on this as I haven't tried it. However, if anyone gets to try this before me, please feel free to leave a comment. I would love to hear how it turns out.
